Update on Bone Densitometry
As the U.S. population ages, osteoporosis will become more prevalent and its detection and treatment more critical. This article provides an update on various techniques used to measure bone density and discusses the indications for bone densitometry and special patient populations that may undergo the exam. In addition, the article discusses the role of the radiologic technologist in bone densitometry, operator safety and the need for precision testing of densitometry equipment.
