CT Colonography

DIANA S. WERDERMAN, M.S.Ed., R.T.(R)

Colorectal cancer is one of the most common cancers in the United States and a leading cause of death in men older than 40. Several screening examinations are available for the disease, each with its own advantages and disadvantages. This Directed Reading examines computed tomography colonography (CTC), a promising newer technique in the fight against colorectal cancer. Preparation for the examination, scanning techniques, interpretation methods and CTC’s efficacy are discussed, along with costs, reimbursement policies and patient satisfaction with the exam.

This article is a Directed Reading.
