Breast ultrasound is an important tool in the detection, diagnosis and treatment of breast disease. Though other technologies will offer new opportunities for imaging breast lesions, sonography has been and will remain a mainstay of breast imaging, known for its cost-effectiveness and safety. This article provides an overview of breast ultrasound.
