Blunt abdominal trauma is a frequent and serious event. Most studies and literature focus on more common injuries to the upper abdomen, particularly the liver and spleen.

This article concentrates on the pelvic region and genitourinary organs, including the kidney. The article also addresses the special considerations of blunt abdominal trauma to pregnant women.
